編者注：所有8歲以上，并有相關(guān)的機(jī)構(gòu)或醫(yī)師證明智商（IQ）在70分以下的智障人士，經(jīng)過(guò)普查登記即可參加特奧運(yùn)動(dòng)。 參加特奧比賽項(xiàng)目的最低年齡限制為8歲；未滿(mǎn)8歲的兒童不能參加特奧比賽。各特奧組織準(zhǔn)許6歲或以上兒童參加由該會(huì)提供的適齡特奧訓(xùn)練計(jì)劃，或其它為推廣特奧而特別舉辦的文化或社會(huì)活動(dòng)。參加特奧運(yùn)動(dòng)沒(méi)有最高年齡限制。

Special Olympics is an international training and competition for theintellectual disabilities(智障人士).Special Olympicsincludes(包括)summer games and winter games.And it includes different levels like local,national,continental(洲際的)and world games.

特殊奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)(簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)特奧會(huì))是專(zhuān)門(mén)針對(duì)智障人士開(kāi)展的國(guó)際性運(yùn)動(dòng)訓(xùn)練和比賽。特奧會(huì)分為夏季運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)和冬季運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)。特奧會(huì)包括本地、國(guó)家、洲際和世界等不同級(jí)別的運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)。

The Special Olympics World Games is one of the world’s largest sports events.Every two years since 1968,athletes(運(yùn)動(dòng)員)from more than 100 countries have gathered to hold competitions for the intellectual disabilities.This world stage brings attention to the Special Olympics movement and helps createpositive(積極的)atmosphere(氛圍)for the intellectual disabilities all over theworld.

世界特殊奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)是世界上最大的體育盛事之一。從1968年起，來(lái)自100多個(gè)不同國(guó)家的運(yùn)動(dòng)員每?jī)赡甓紩?huì)為智障人士舉行體育比賽。這個(gè)世界舞臺(tái)為特奧會(huì)運(yùn)動(dòng)帶來(lái)了很多的關(guān)注，為世界各國(guó)的智障人士創(chuàng)造了一個(gè)積極樂(lè)觀的氛圍。

This summer,from June 25 to July 4,nearly 7,500 athletes from 180 countries will take part in the 2011 Special OlympicsWorld Summer Games in Athens,Greece.It will be theworld’s largest sporting event of the year.

今年夏天6月25日到7月4日，來(lái)自180多個(gè)國(guó)家的大約7500名運(yùn)動(dòng)員將參加2011年希臘雅典世界特殊奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)。這將是今年最重大的體育賽事。

The belief of the Special Olympics特奧會(huì)的信念

The Special Olympics believes that its athletes have the ability to learn.Under rightguidance(指導(dǎo))andencouragement(鼓勵(lì)),they can gain some skills,and enjoy the happiness of success.The Special Olympics believes that its athletes have the ability to improve their life quality.By training and competition,they can keepphysically and mentally healthy(身心健康).They will communicate more with their families,neighbours and volunteers.And their life quality will be further improved.The Special Olympics believes that its athletes have the ability tocontribute(貢獻(xiàn))to the society.With their own efforts,they can reduce the burdens of the family and the society.

特奧會(huì)堅(jiān)信：特奧會(huì)運(yùn)動(dòng)員有學(xué)習(xí)的能力。在正確的指導(dǎo)和鼓勵(lì)下，智障人士通過(guò)參加體育訓(xùn)練及比賽，能夠獲得相應(yīng)的技能，進(jìn)而享受成功的快樂(lè)。特奧會(huì)堅(jiān)信：特奧運(yùn)動(dòng)員有提高生活質(zhì)量的能力。智障人士通過(guò)參加體育訓(xùn)練及比賽，能夠使身心健康。他們與家庭成員、鄰居、志愿者以及運(yùn)動(dòng)員間的交往會(huì)更加廣泛，生活質(zhì)量也會(huì)進(jìn)一步提高。特奧會(huì)堅(jiān)信：特奧運(yùn)動(dòng)員有貢獻(xiàn)社會(huì)的能力。智障人士通過(guò)自身的努力，能夠減輕對(duì)家庭和社會(huì)的負(fù)擔(dān)。

Themission of the Special Olympics is to create conditions and opportunities for the intellectual disabilities to take part in training and competitions through many kinds of sporting events.It can help to develop theirpotentials(潛能)and perform bravely.In taking part in these sports,they can share happiness, exchange skills and improve friendship with their families,other athletes and thewhole community.

特殊奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)的使命是：通過(guò)豐富多樣的運(yùn)動(dòng)項(xiàng)目，為智障人士參與日常訓(xùn)練及競(jìng)賽創(chuàng)造條件和機(jī)會(huì)，使他們發(fā)揮潛能，勇敢表現(xiàn)，在參與中與家人、其他運(yùn)動(dòng)員及整個(gè)社區(qū)分享快樂(lè)、交流技藝、增進(jìn)友誼。

The aim of the Special Olympics is to offer equal opportunities for the intellectual disabilities to take part in social events,so they can have a chance to become useful people who arerecognized(認(rèn)可)and respected by the society.

特殊奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)的目標(biāo)是：為智障人士提供參與社會(huì)的平等機(jī)會(huì)，使他們有機(jī)會(huì)成為對(duì)社會(huì)有用、被社會(huì)認(rèn)可和尊重的公民。

The slogan of the Special Olympics is “Letme win.But if I cannot win,letme be brave in the attempt.”
