ChinesewriterMoYanwasnamedthewinneroftheNobelPrizeforliteratureonOct.11.Ifpastrecentwinnersareanyindication，MoYanspreviouslypublishedbookswillnowfindplentyofnewreaders.

IntheyearsinceSwedishpoetTomasTranstromerwonthe2011NobelPrizeforliterature，his2006book，TheGreatEnigma：NewCollectedPoems，soldabout17，000copiesintheU.S.inallformats.Untiltheprizewasannounced，thebookhadsoldabout3，000copies.

Inthemonthdirectlyfollowingtheprizeannouncement，Picadorshippedmorethan100，000copiesofthe10bookswrittenbyMr.VargasLlosathatithadinprint，includingoneofhismostpopulartitles，TheFeastoftheGoat.ThiswasseveraltimesmorethanPicadorhadshippedduringtheentirepreviousyear.

Farrar，StrausandGiroux，asisterimprintthatoriginallypublishedthehardcovereditions，subsequentlyacquiredthedigitalrightsandissuedtheworksase-booksinMarch2011.

“Whathappensafteryouhaveawinneristhatalotofscramblingtakesplaces，”saidMrMeader.“Wemadesurewehadenoughbooksoutthere.Andweputasealoneverycopyofeverybook，statingthattheauthorhadwontheNobelPrize.Afewmonthslaterthebookswereredesignedsothattheydhaveauniformlook.”

2012年諾貝爾文學(xué)獎被授予中國作家莫言，他的“魔幻現(xiàn)實主義作品將民間故事、歷史和當(dāng)代社會融合在一起”。

莫言的作品將幻想與現(xiàn)實、歷史和社會視角等融合在一起，他作品中營造的世界，會令人同時聯(lián)想起美國作家威廉·福克納和哥倫比亞作家加西亞·馬爾克斯的作品，同時又從中國的古老文化和口頭文學(xué)傳統(tǒng)中尋找寫作的出發(fā)點。

10月11日，中國作家莫言被評為2012年諾貝爾文學(xué)獎得主。如果最近幾屆獲獎作家的情況能帶給我們?nèi)魏螁⑹镜脑?，那么莫言此前出版的作品如今會找到很多新的讀者。

瑞典詩人托馬斯·特朗斯特羅默獲得2011年諾貝爾文學(xué)獎以來的一年內(nèi)，他2006年的作品《巨大的謎語》在美國各種版本的銷量總計達(dá)到1.7萬冊。而在他獲獎之前，這本書總共只售出了大約3，000本。

NewDirectionsPublishingCo.出版了特朗斯特羅默的上述作品。該社編輯JeffreyYang說，“對于一本詩集來說，這樣的銷售情況真的是很不錯了?！?/p>

平裝書出版社Picador的發(fā)言人米德說，“秘魯作家馬里奧·巴爾加斯·略薩獲得2010年諾貝爾文學(xué)獎后，其作品銷量也明顯增加?！盤icador為德國出版控股集團(tuán)VerlagsgruppeGeorgvonHoltzbrinckGmbH旗下麥克米倫出版社所有。

在巴爾加斯·略薩獲獎的消息公布之后的一個月內(nèi)，Picador賣出了逾10萬冊已經(jīng)出版的10部略薩作品，其中包括他最受歡迎的作品《公羊的節(jié)日》。這一數(shù)字是Picador此前整整一年出貨量的好幾倍。

和Picador同屬一個出版集團(tuán)的出版社Farrar，StrausandGiroux隨后收購了略薩作品的數(shù)字版權(quán)，并在2011年3月發(fā)行了略薩作品的電子書版本。Farrar，StrausandGiroux最初出版的是這些作品的精裝版。

米德先生說，“出版社簽約作家獲獎之后常會發(fā)生的情況是，讀者爭相搶購這位作家的作品。我們必須確保市面上有足夠的作品可賣。我們還會給每本書加上腰封，說明其作者獲得了諾貝爾文學(xué)獎。數(shù)月之后這些書會進(jìn)行重新設(shè)計，讓它們擁有統(tǒng)一的外觀?！?/p>

在美國出版的莫言作品包括《豐乳肥臀》，出版集團(tuán)SkyhorsePublishing旗下的ArcadePublishing重新發(fā)行了這部小說。
