For want of a nail,

The shoe was lost,

For want of a shoe,

The horse was lost,

For want of a horse,

The rider was lost,

For want of a rider,

The battle was lost,

For want of a battle,

The kingdom was lost,

And all for the want

Of a horseshoe nail.

因?yàn)槿眰€(gè)釘，

丟了馬蹄鐵；

因?yàn)閬G了馬蹄鐵，

戰(zhàn)馬一去無(wú)蹤影；

因?yàn)槿绷笋R一匹，

騎手到處去謀生；

因?yàn)闆](méi)了好騎手，

就輸了這場(chǎng)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)；

因?yàn)檩數(shù)袅藨?zhàn)爭(zhēng)，

失去了整個(gè)王國(guó)。

這全都只為缺少了

馬掌上的一顆釘。
