“Why are you working on such a lovely day?” asked the grasshopper.

“I’m collecting food for the winter,”said the ant, “and I suggest you do the same.” And off she went, helping the other ants to carry food to their store.

The grasshopper carried on hoppingand singing.

When winter came, the ground was covered with snow. The grasshopper had no food and was hungry. So he went to the ants and asked for food.

“What did you do all summer, when we were working to collect our food?” said one of the ants.

“I was busy hopping and singing,” said the grasshopper.

“Well,” said the ant, “if you hop and sing all summer, and do no work, then you must4)starve in the winter.”

夏日時節(jié)，一只蚱蜢在太陽底下跳來跳去，盡情歌唱。一天，有只螞蟻急匆匆地經(jīng)過，看上去又熱又累。

“在如此美好的一天，你為什么還要工作呢？”蚱蜢問道。

“我在為冬天儲備食物，”螞蟻回答，“我建議你也這樣做?！闭f完她便走開了，幫著其他螞蟻把食物搬進倉庫。

蚱蜢繼續(xù)又跳又唱著。

冬天來了，白雪覆蓋大地。蚱蜢一點兒吃的都沒有，饑腸轆轆。于是他去找螞蟻，向他們求取食物。

“整個夏天我們都在忙著準備食物，那時候你在做什么？”一只螞蟻問。

“我忙著蹦跳和歌唱啊，”蚱蜢答道。

“噢，既然你整個夏天又跳又唱地而不去工作，那么冬天就只能挨餓了?！蔽浵佌f。
