“《英語世界》杯”翻譯大賽肇始于2010年，由商務(wù)印書館《英語世界》雜志社主辦。短短數(shù)載，大賽參賽人數(shù)屢創(chuàng)新高，目前已經(jīng)成為國內(nèi)最有影響的翻譯賽事之一。為推動(dòng)翻譯學(xué)科進(jìn)一步發(fā)展，促進(jìn)中外文化交流，我們秉承“給力英語學(xué)習(xí)，探尋翻譯之星”的理念，于2019年繼續(xù)舉辦第十屆“《英語世界》杯”翻譯大賽，誠邀廣大翻譯愛好者積極參與，比秀佳譯。

第十屆“《英語世界》杯”翻譯大賽得到中國海洋大學(xué)的大力支持，并由該校冠名本屆比賽。2019年的翻譯大賽包含“英譯漢”和“漢譯英”兩個(gè)組別。大賽初評(píng)交給合辦院校的老師，以確保大賽評(píng)審的權(quán)威性和公信力。復(fù)評(píng)和終評(píng)我們將延續(xù)歷屆傳統(tǒng)，從全國各地邀請(qǐng)知名翻譯專家進(jìn)行評(píng)審。

2.參賽投稿截止時(shí)間：2019年7月20日24時(shí)。

3.大賽各項(xiàng)最新進(jìn)展將通過《英語世界》微信公眾號(hào)實(shí)時(shí)發(fā)布，請(qǐng)予關(guān)注。

參賽要求

1.參賽者國籍、年齡、學(xué)歷不限。

2.參賽譯文須獨(dú)立完成，不接受合作譯稿。

3.僅第一次投稿有效，不接受修改后的再投稿件。

4.只接受電子版投稿，不接受紙質(zhì)投稿。

5.在大賽截稿日之前，請(qǐng)妥善保存參賽譯文，勿在報(bào)刊、網(wǎng)絡(luò)等任何媒體上以任何方式公布，違者取消參賽資格并承擔(dān)相應(yīng)后果。

6.參賽譯文一經(jīng)發(fā)現(xiàn)抄襲或雷同，即取消涉事者參賽資格。

7.參賽者投稿即視為其本人同意和自愿遵守本啟事的各項(xiàng)規(guī)定。

獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)及證明

1.“英譯漢”和“漢譯英”每組擬分別設(shè)置一等獎(jiǎng)1名，二等獎(jiǎng)2名，三等獎(jiǎng)3名，優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)若干名。

2.一、二、三等獎(jiǎng)?lì)C發(fā)證書、獎(jiǎng)金和獎(jiǎng)品，優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)?lì)C發(fā)證書和獎(jiǎng)品。

3.所有獲獎(jiǎng)?wù)呔@贈(zèng)2020年1—12期《英語世界》雜志，并有機(jī)會(huì)受邀成為《英語世界》的譯者。

4.積極組織學(xué)生參加翻譯大賽的院校，頒發(fā)“優(yōu)秀組織獎(jiǎng)”證書;獲獎(jiǎng)院校有機(jī)會(huì)成為“《英語世界》翻譯實(shí)踐基地”合作單位。

5.入圍復(fù)審名單的參賽者，應(yīng)本人要求可由本社開具“入圍復(fù)審”的書面證明。

報(bào)名及繳費(fèi)

1.為應(yīng)對(duì)不斷攀升的評(píng)審成本、提高獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)額度、遏制少數(shù)人敷衍投稿的行為，本屆大賽酌情收取少量、不至給參賽者造成較大負(fù)擔(dān)的參賽費(fèi)，以保障大賽良性開展。懇請(qǐng)參賽者諒解為盼。

2.單獨(dú)參加“英譯漢”或“漢譯英”其中一項(xiàng)比賽繳納參賽費(fèi)30元，兩項(xiàng)均參加繳納參賽費(fèi)60元。

3.報(bào)名繳費(fèi)流程：關(guān)注我刊微信公眾號(hào)（theworldofenglish），閱讀大賽啟事，點(diǎn)擊文末“大賽報(bào)名”登錄英語世界官網(wǎng)或直接掃碼（見右）進(jìn)入大賽報(bào)名界面【請(qǐng)盡量通過PC端操作】，根據(jù)提示填寫報(bào)名信息并繳納相關(guān)報(bào)名費(fèi)。

4.報(bào)名后沒有成功繳費(fèi)的，所投稿件無法進(jìn)入評(píng)審程序。

5. 因人力所限，繳費(fèi)后無論是否提交參賽譯文，費(fèi)用概不退還，繳費(fèi)時(shí)務(wù)請(qǐng)注意。

投稿規(guī)范

1.個(gè)人信息表及參賽譯文于截稿日之前以附件形式發(fā)送至電子郵箱：yysjfyds@sina.com 。

2.郵件主題：參賽者姓名+×××（×××為報(bào)名手機(jī)號(hào)，下同）。

3.個(gè)人信息表：文件名“×××個(gè)人信息”，excel格式，附件發(fā)送。請(qǐng)掃碼（見右）下載填寫。

4.參賽譯文：文件名“×××英譯漢”或“×××漢譯英”，word格式，附件發(fā)送;同時(shí)參加兩項(xiàng)比賽，請(qǐng)發(fā)送兩個(gè)word附件，請(qǐng)勿合并成一個(gè)文件。

5.參賽譯文格式：宋體（英譯漢）/Times New Roman（漢譯英），黑色，小四號(hào)，1.5倍行距，兩端對(duì)齊。譯文每段之前請(qǐng)務(wù)必添加編號(hào)【1】【2】【3】……（如原文所示）。

6.參賽譯文中請(qǐng)勿留下任何個(gè)人信息，否則匿名評(píng)審過程中將被提前淘汰。

評(píng)審保障制度

為保證大賽評(píng)審的公平、公正和透明，盡量保證評(píng)審結(jié)果的客觀和可靠，本屆大賽在評(píng)審過程中特別設(shè)立以下制度：

1.本?；乇苤贫龋汉限k院校本校參賽稿的初評(píng)概由《英語世界》編輯部負(fù)責(zé)評(píng)審，而不交由合辦院校本校教師評(píng)審。

2.復(fù)審申訴制度：擬定復(fù)審名單通過《英語世界》微信公眾號(hào)發(fā)布后，未能進(jìn)入該名單的參賽者3日內(nèi)有權(quán)提出申訴。提出申訴需另交90元的二次評(píng)審費(fèi)用，申訴稿將邀請(qǐng)三位外部專家獨(dú)立負(fù)責(zé)二次評(píng)審;二次評(píng)審發(fā)現(xiàn)確屬初評(píng)失誤的，將退還二次評(píng)審費(fèi)用，否則費(fèi)用不予退還。大賽會(huì)根據(jù)申訴稿二次評(píng)審結(jié)果重新公布最終入圍復(fù)審名單。

Poetry to Me

【1】One of the abiding principles and important reasons why I turn to poetry， both as a reader and a maker， is the laying bare of the mystery of the self. The writing of a poem begins in ignorance. Responding to an inner imperative， the stimulus beneath most of my poems is the Greek Delphic aphorism “Know Thyself，” which also emerged in another form in Socrates’s final declarations while on trial and facing imminent death： The unexamined life is not worth living.

【2】Since a young man， poetry became my means of knowing and gave my life substance. By marking language such that it sings our self-hood， by making a linguistic record of our observations in memorable speech， poetry offers the opportunity to not only examine but to penetrate the abstract and nebulous nature of existence and to lay the foundation for an authentic self who serves as a witness to their times.

【3】In a sense， poetry writes， or rather， sings us. I deliberately use the word “sing” because I am one of those who， maybe perversely， believes in the indissoluble relationship between sound and sense， that our most profound utterances， at their purest， carry the truth and embodiment of song.

【4】Harkening back to the roots of lyric poetry， poets are communal singers. The ritualistic act of calling forth words into a series of synthesized memories and ordered impressions into artful language （whether metered or not） elevates human expression to a divine act of witnessing and being in the world.

【5】In the 20th century， Walt Whitman says “I am large; I contain multitudes” and Langston Hughes states “I， too， am America.” These pronouncements reflect as much their individual spirit as it does the tenor of the times they lived. If we understand， today， this work of poetry as both shaping and giving expression to unique consciousness， while at the same time， countersigning the age out of which it is born， then we understand how poetry maps both inner lives and the public realms of engagement. It is no accident that interiority and territory share in sound and meaning， two near common Latin roots： inter （“within”） and terra （“l(fā)and”）.

【6】In writing a poem， language emerges from the most undivided sense of ourselves; it is a concentrated moment of human cognition， improvisational and incantatory. Much of the music in my life has taught me to listen deeply， not merely to notes but to the underlying swell of human emotion that informs both chords and words.

【7】I inherited an abiding love of jazz and blues from my grandfather. What I long for in my own work is the exuberance of life I first heard as a child， a time in our lives when sounds are most impressionable.? As a result， I aim to write poems in which language dramatically changes into feeling. I long to stylize language such that it becomes a new encounter for the reader and honors the idioms of our age. To that end， each poem I write attempts to capture the concerns and sensibilities of our times while expressing my unique relationship to language.

【8】Because language is my material， I also strive to maintain a limber attitude （and ear?。?so that I am doing more than transcribing what I merely see or feel， but also to listen and hear the subaltern transactions and ideas between words and what they signify so that not only does language captures an experience or moment in time but somehow transcends the context and conditions by which it is made.

【9】This represents for me the idea of lyric freedom， when the poem is not bound by the space/time axis but bridges shared experiences and becomes emblematic of the human journey. It is when I believe most Walt Whitman’s opening to Song of Myself： “I celebrate myself， and sing myself， / And what I assume you shall assume， / For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.”

《憶青島》（節(jié)選）

【1】我是北平人，從不以北平為理想的地方。北平從繁華而破落，從高雅而庸俗、而惡劣，幾經(jīng)滄桑，早已無復(fù)舊觀。我雖然足跡不廣，但北自遼東，南至百粵，也走過了十幾省，竊以為真正令人流連不忍去的地方應(yīng)推青島。

【2】青島位于東海之濱，在膠州灣之入口處，背山面海，形勢(shì)天成。光緒二十三年（一八九七）德國強(qiáng)租膠州灣，辟青島為市場(chǎng)，大事建設(shè)。直到如今，青島的外貌仍有德國人的痕跡。例如房屋建筑，屋頂一律使用紅瓦片，山坡起伏綠樹蔥蘢之間，紅綠掩映，饒有情趣。民國三年青島又被日本奪占，民國十一年才得收回。邇后雖然被幾個(gè)軍閥盤據(jù)，表面上沒有遭到什么破壞。當(dāng)初建設(shè)的根柢牢固，就是要糟蹋一時(shí)也糟蹋不了。青島的整齊清潔的市容一直維持了下來。我想在全國各都市里，青島是最干凈的一個(gè)?！盁o風(fēng)三尺土，有雨一街泥”的北平不能比。

【3】青島的天氣屬于大陸氣候，但是有海灣的潮流調(diào)劑，四季的變化相當(dāng)溫和。稱得上是“春有百花秋有月，夏有涼風(fēng)冬有雪”的好地方。冬天也有過雪，但是很少見，屋里面無需升火不會(huì)結(jié)冰。夏天的涼風(fēng)習(xí)習(xí)，秋季的天高氣爽，都是令人喜的，而春季的百花齊放，更是美不勝收。

【4】一般山東人的特性是外表倔強(qiáng)豪邁，內(nèi)心敦厚溫和。宦場(chǎng)中人，大部分肉食者鄙，各地皆然，固無足論。觀風(fēng)問俗，宜對(duì)庶民著眼。青島民風(fēng)淳厚，每于細(xì)民中見之。我初到青島，看到人力車夫從不計(jì)較車資，乘客下車一律付與一角，路程遠(yuǎn)則付二角，無爭論者。這是全國所沒有的現(xiàn)象。有人說這是德國人留下的無形的制度，無論如何這種作風(fēng)能維持很久便是難能可貴。青島市面上絕少討價(jià)還價(jià)的惡習(xí)。雖然小事一端，代表意義很大。無怪乎有人感嘆，齊魯本是圣人之邦，青島焉能不紹其馀緒？
