溫迪克闖入了被人們稱作“巫婆”的格洛麗亞的花園，歐寶于是與格洛麗亞相識(shí)，發(fā)現(xiàn)她是一個(gè)溫暖的人，一個(gè)可以聽歐寶傾訴的人。

I went around a really big tree all covered in 1）moss， and there wasWinn-Dixie. He was eating something right out of the witch's hand. Shelooked up at me. "This dog sure likes peanut butter，" she said. "You canalways trust a dog that likes peanut butter."

She was old with 2）crinkly brown skin. She had on a big 3）floppy hatwith flowers all over it， and she didn't have any teeth， but she didn't look likea witch. She looked nice. AndWinn-Dixie liked her， I couldtell.

"I'm sorry he got in yourgarden，" I said.

"You ain't got to be sorry，"

she said. “I enjoy a little 4）company."

"My name's Opal，" I told her.

"My name's Gloria Dump，" she said. "Ain't that a terrible last name？ Dump？"

"My last name is Buloni，" I said. "Sometimes the kids at school back home inWatley called me 'Lunch Meat'."

"Hah！" Gloria Dump laughed. "What about this dog？ What you call him？"

"Winn-Dixie，" I said.

Winn-Dixie 5Ithumped his tail on the ground. He tried smiling， but it was hardwith his mouth all full of peanut butter.

她很老，沒有牙齒，皮膚又黑又皺，戴了一頂插滿花的扁帽子，看起來一點(diǎn)兒也不像巫婆，反倒像個(gè)好人，而且看得出來溫迪克很喜歡她。

“對(duì)不起，它跑進(jìn)您的花園里了?！蔽覍?duì)她說。

“你不必覺得抱歉。”她說，“我很喜歡有一個(gè)小家伙做伴?！?/p>

“我叫歐寶?！蔽腋嬖V她。

“我叫格洛麗亞·戴普?！彼f，“很可怕的姓吧？”（在英文里dump有“垃圾場(chǎng)”的意思）

“我的姓是布隆尼?！蔽艺f，“以前在瓦特里，有時(shí)候放學(xué)后的孩子們叫我‘午餐肉?！保ㄔ谟⑽睦颾uloni是一種美國(guó)香腸）

“哈！”格洛麗亞笑了，“那這只狗呢？你叫它什么？”

“溫迪克?！蔽一卮稹?/p>

溫迪克用力在地上拍尾巴，試著想露齒微笑，可是滿嘴的花生醬讓它很難做到。
