“中國航天員”怎么翻譯

Wang Yaping will fly the mission as the first female astronaut to enter China’s space station.The 41-year-old taikonaut was selected to the crew of the Shenzhou-10 space mission in April 2013,delivering China’s first televised science lecture in or?bit to an audience of more than 60 million schoolchildren and teachers while onboard the Tiangong-1 space lab module.She was also given the honorary title of“Hero Astro?naut”.

報道中，“taikonaut”再次進入人們的視線。這個詞是不是熟悉又陌生？我們在背單詞的時候，都把航天員翻譯作astro?naut，但中國創(chuàng)造了一個新詞，把“中國航天員”叫作“taikonaut”。

其實早在1961 年，加加林成為第一個進入太空的宇航員時，蘇聯(lián)人就率先將宇航員的英文名稱定為了“cosmo?naut”。“cosmos”源自希臘語的“宇宙”，“naut”源于希臘語的“水手”，合起來意為“在宇宙旅行的水手”。而到了美國，又出現(xiàn)了“astronaut”，astro 也源于希臘語，有“星星”的意思。我們中國航天員叫作“tai?konaut”，是由中文“太空”的拼音轉(zhuǎn)變而來的，目前該詞也被一些英語權威詞典收錄，意思為Chinese astronaut（中國航天員）。
