Niger junta names interim president, plans new constitution

尼日爾軍政府任命臨時總統(tǒng)，計劃起草新憲法

The junta that staged a coup in Niger last week on Monday named its leader as transitional president and unveiled plans to draw up a new constitution that will be put to a referendum.

上周在尼日爾發(fā)動政變的軍政府本周一任命其領導人為臨時總統(tǒng)，并宣布將起草新憲法，付諸全民公投。

Major Salou Djibo who heads the junta calling itself the Supreme Council for Restoration of Democracy will be the head of state and government during the transitional period, said a decree read on state radio.

據(jù)該國國家電臺宣布的一項政令稱，自稱為“民主復興最高委員會”的軍政府首腦薩洛·吉博少校將在過渡期內(nèi)任國家元首和政府首腦。

The new power structure is effective during the transition period, whose duration was not specified.

The authorities promised to create a body which will draw up new electoral laws and a draft constitution for adoption through the ballot by voters of this uranium-rich west African country.
