Q：下面這道選擇填空題為什么正確答案是C，而不是B？

A：此題的中文意思是：“雖然我表妹很年輕，但她會幫忙干家務(wù)了?！庇捎谑軡h語思維的影響，同學(xué)們很容易錯選B。英語中，although(though)“雖然”屬于從屬連詞，而but“但是”是并列連詞。把一個從句連接于主句，只用although(though)就夠了，不能再加but。如：

Although learning English is not easy,it is very interesting.學(xué)習(xí)英語雖然不容易，但是很有趣。

當(dāng)然保留but而去掉although(though)也是可以的。如：

He was tired,but he went on working.雖然他很累，但仍繼續(xù)干活。

注意：口語中although(though)可與yet,still連用，這時yet,still用作副詞。如：

Although(Though)it was raining,yet we still played football.盡管下雨，我們還是踢了足球。

1）It is becoming the third largest industrial city in the province.它正在成為這個省的第三大工業(yè)城市。

2）Tom is the second tallest in our class，but he is taller than any student in Class Three.湯姆在我們班第二高，但他比三班任何學(xué)生都更高。

A：before用作連詞，連接時間狀語從句，其基本意思是“在……之前”,但是具體譯法視上下文而定。如果before與情態(tài)動詞can(could)連用，這時候從句雖為肯定形式，根據(jù)表達(dá)習(xí)慣要譯成“還沒來得及……就……”，強(qiáng)調(diào)從句動作發(fā)生之前，主句動作已發(fā)生。如：

Someone called me up in the middle of the night,they hung up before I could answer the phone.半夜里有人給我打電話，可是我還沒來得及接，電話就掛斷了。

She ran out before I could tell it to her.我還來不及把這件事告訴她，她就跑出去了。
