勢(shì)利（雙語加油站●時(shí)事新語）

“勢(shì)利”指“根據(jù)財(cái)產(chǎn)和地位看待人”，英語譯為snobbish。例如：1. 簡(jiǎn)·愛感到她永遠(yuǎn)無法同這些勢(shì)利而高雅的人們競(jìng)爭(zhēng)。Jane feels she can never compete with these snobbish, elegant people.

2. 他發(fā)現(xiàn)這個(gè)奢侈品店的店員可能是最勢(shì)利的一群人。He found the shop　assistants in this luxury store were per?haps the most snobbish group of people.

“勢(shì)利眼”或“勢(shì)利小人”，英語譯為snob。如：3. 約翰有點(diǎn)勢(shì)利眼，他太羨慕社會(huì)地位較高的人，而不尊重社會(huì)地位較低的人。John is a bit of a snob,who admires people in the higher social　classes too much and has no respect for　people in the lower social classes.

“勢(shì)利行為”，英語譯為snobbery。例如：5. 這名男子對(duì)窮人采取勢(shì)利態(tài)度，總是擺臭架子，因此幾乎所有的人都對(duì)他的勢(shì)利行為感到惱怒。The man adopted　a snobbish attitude toward poor people, al?ways talking through his nose, so almost　everyone was annoyed by his snobbery.
