1. C 根據(jù)后面“to cut down trees”可推斷Thomas應(yīng)該是進入樹林去砍樹,因此C項為正確答案。
2. B 根據(jù)后半句“so he decided to get a drink”可知Thomas應(yīng)該是渴了,決定喝水,因此B項為正確答案。
3. A 根據(jù)前半句“He walked toward the sound of the water”可知,他朝著水聲方向走去,后面的一句“he saw a waterfall”表明他發(fā)現(xiàn)了瀑布,因此應(yīng)該是穿過樹林,所以A項為正確答案。
5. C 根據(jù)前面一句“The pond looked very deep, and Thomas didn’t know how to swim.” Put away為“放好,儲存”,take off為“脫掉,起飛”,give up為“放棄”,think over為“思考”,因此C項為正確答案。
6. A 根據(jù)第一段“a large wooden axe”可知,Thomas的斧頭是木制的,因此此處應(yīng)選A項。
7. C 根據(jù)句型“It was not long before…”
8. B 根據(jù)前面一句“Thomas looked at the axe and smiled because it was surely the axe he had lost.”
Thomas looked at the axe and smiled because it was surely the axe he had lost.
【分析】because引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句;“he had lost”是過去完成時,表示動作發(fā)生在“smiled”之前,即“過去的過去”“he had lost”也是定語從句,修飾先行詞axe。
