Yang Shi of the Song Dynasty didnt want to be an official after he passedthe highest 1）imperial examination. He just wanted to 2）concentrate on the 3）academicresearch.

At the beginning， he took Cheng Hao， a Neo-Confucianist as his master inYing Chang， Henan， and learned a lot from him. After Cheng Hao passed away，Yang Shi and his classmate You Zuo went on to Luoyang and 4）consulted anotherfamous Neo-Confucianist named Cheng Yi， Cheng Haos brother. When theyarrived at Cheng Yis house， Cheng Yi was taking a nap inside. So they decidedto wait for him instead of waking him up.

It was snowing on that day. They stood for a long time before Cheng Yi wasawake. Meanwhile， the snow has piled up a foot deep. Finally， Cheng Yi wasmoved by their respect for him.

宋朝時，楊時通過了科舉考試成為一名進士。他放棄了做官的機會，只想鉆研學問。

一開始，楊時跑到河南潁昌拜程顥為師。程顥是理學大家，楊時向他學到了很多知識。后來程顥去世，楊時和他的同學游酢又跑到洛陽去拜程顥的弟弟、另一位理學大家程頤為師。當他和同學游酢一塊兒到程家去拜見程頤時，正遇上程頤在屋里午睡。于是，他們不驚擾他，決定站著等候他醒來。

那天，外面正下著雪。他們等了很長時間。程頤醒來時，門前積雪已經(jīng)一尺深了。最后，程頤被他們恭敬的態(tài)度感動了。

Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi were Neo-Confucianists and educationalists in the Northern Song Dynasty， known as the “Two Chengs”.

In order to write books and lecture， Cheng Yi established “Yigao Academy”.What Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi passed on was “Luoyang school”， which had aprofound impact on Neo-Confucianism ethics in the Song Dynasty. They had manydisciples. There are more than 80 famous disciples. Among them， Lü Dalin， YangShi， Xie Liangzuo and You Zuo are known as the “Four Disciples of Cheng”.

程顥、程頤是北宋理學家、教育學家，世稱“二程”。

為了便于著書講學，程頤創(chuàng)立“伊皋書院”。程顥、程頤所傳之道“洛學”，它對宋代理學思想體系的建立有深刻影響。程頤、程顥兩兄弟的弟子很多，較有名的有80 余人，其中呂大臨、楊時、謝良佐、游酢被稱為“程門四弟子”。
