In the way和on the way是極為常見的兩個(gè)短語，如何靈活運(yùn)用在具體的語境中呢？

1.in the way

這個(gè)短語常指“在道上”，有妨礙、阻攔的意思。如：

1）She can’t do her dance because the table is in the way.Can you help me move it？

桌子擋住了路，她不能跳舞了。你能幫忙移開嗎？

2）You just arranged matters so that no one was in the way.

你把一切都安排好了，這樣就不會(huì)有人擋道了。

3）I knew what got in the way of success,and I planned for it.

我知道通往成功的道路上會(huì)遇到什么，我也計(jì)劃好了。

2.on the way

該短語的常用意思是“在路上”，指去某個(gè)地方的路上。其后可以用介詞to接地點(diǎn)名詞表示目的地。特別要注意的是，如果目的地是副詞，不能用to。如：

1）I was on my way to Peter’s house when I met him in the street.

當(dāng)我在街上遇見他的時(shí)候，我正在去彼得家的路上。

2）On the way home I thought about these two men and their different approaches to being fired.（home為副詞，前面不能用介詞to）

在回家的路上，我對這兩個(gè)人以及他們對待被解雇這件事的態(tài)度進(jìn)行了思考。

3.on the way to+動(dòng)名詞/動(dòng)詞

用來表示“在進(jìn)行中”，常用作動(dòng)詞be的表語，后接介詞to+動(dòng)名詞，或者介詞to+動(dòng)詞作名詞。如：

1）We’re well on the way to completing a project on this.

我們正在完成這個(gè)項(xiàng)目。

2）Brazil is on the way to becoming one of the world’s strongest economies.

巴西正在成為世界上最強(qiáng)大的經(jīng)濟(jì)體之一。

3）Once being in danger of life,he would hit on the way to escape.

一旦到了有生命危險(xiǎn)的關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻，他總能想出逃脫的方法。
