Abstract: To analyze international order is a crucial part of the assessment of international strategic situation and diplomatic policy-making. Despite the uncertainty of the current international order, China and the US are increasingly creating a new bipolar world. Compared with US-Soviet Union bipolarity, the primary components of the Sino-US bipolar structure are economy, trade, finance, technology, culture, development model and value. The complexity of the new bipolarity is a test for national strength, strategy and wisdom.

Abstract: The Trump administration has made significant adjustments to America’s strategy towards China since assuming office. In terms of economic relations, regional security, international institutions, and ideological issues, China faces mounting pressure from the Trump administration. American policy elites tend to perceive China as a paramount, comprehensive, and global threat to its national security. There is a bipartisan consensus in the United States on getting tougher on China. A competitive strategy towards China has been driven by the Trump administration, which is essentially different from the “engagement and hedging” strategy pursued by previous administrations in decades. There is a heated debate over the competitive strategy towards China among American policy experts, and numerous policy recommendations have been raised on how to manage the competitive co-existence with China. The great-power-competition tactics such as “securitization of economic affairs” adopted by the Trump administration could lead to more complex and intractable challenges facing Sino-US relations.

Abstract: Under the impetus of Trump administration’s shifting policy toward China, Sino-US strategic competition has become increasingly prominent, affecting the interaction between the two sides in various realms including politics, economy and security. The emergence of strategic competition not only exacerbates the distortion and tension of bilateral relationship, but also poses challenges to regional stability in Asia. In this context, the management of Sino-US strategic competition has become an urgent question which needs to be serious explored. Considering the great compatibility of mutual interests between China and the United States, strategic communities in both countries need to jointly explore how to manage the competition, instead of focusing on how to engage, or even pursue a one-sided win, in that competition. It is important to recognize that long-term systemic confrontation will hurt both parties, damaging their national interests. Through deliberate and prudent management by both parties, establishing a moderate inclusive competition is in the interests of China and the United States, as well as conducive to stability and peace in the Asia-Pacific region.

Abstract: The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation has opened a new stage of constructing the Belt and Road. The achievements in the past six years are the solid foundation for further construction. Despite the uncertainty in the international environment, doubt of big powers, China sticks to the high quality construction in the Belt and Road Initiative for a more sustainable development. The high-quality construction of B&R is a long-term systematic project. China needs to continue to play a leading role and take measures such as building high-quality infrastructure, diversifying financing, building regional value chain, and promoting institutional construction to meet the common interests of China and other countries.

Abstracts: The new situation has brought a glimmer of hope for peace to the Korean peninsula. However, the negotiation is slow because there is a serious lack of mutual trust between the DPRK and America. Therefore, the security cooperation between China and South Korea is urgent. So far, the two countries are not cooperating as much as they should, although there are many common interests on the peaceful construction of the Korean peninsula as well as some basis and space for cooperation. The cooperation will be difficult because of the intervention of the United States and the other parties and many challenges existed between the two counties. The two sides should take concrete actions to engage in the progress of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. In addition, China and South Korea need to work together to prevent a new cold war in Northeast Asia and avoid new conflicts between the two counties. They need to institutionalize the achievement of denuclearization to minimize the risk of uncertainty caused by relevant national domestic political changes.
