有沒有“the”，意思大不同

小伙伴們，大家都已經學過了定冠詞“the”，你們可別小看它的作用，英語中，有沒有“the”意思可能大不同。今天我們就一起來學習一下吧。

have the time VS. have time

如果有人問你，“Do you have the time？”，可不要誤會別人是在約你，這句話不是問“你有時間嗎”，真正的意思是問你“現(xiàn)在幾點了”，相當于：What time is it？或者是What’s the time？那回答就是具體的時間點，比如：It’s just half past 9.（剛剛九點半。）

問對方有沒有時間，用英語表達應該是：Do you have time？這里要注意，少了一個定冠詞the， 意思就大不一樣了。除此之外，“Do you have a minute？”和“Are you available？”都可以用來問對方有沒有空。

in red VS. in the red

“in red”指“穿著紅色的衣服”，例句：The girl in red is my sister.（那個身穿紅衣服的姑娘是我的妹妹。）同樣，“in black”是指“穿著黑色的衣服”，“in pink”是指“穿著粉色的衣服”。

“in the red”的意思就完全不同了，是指“陷入赤字”，例句：The theatre is 500，000 dollars in the red.（劇院負債50萬美元。）

by hand VS. by the hand

“by hand”是“手工”的意思，例句：Rice farmers here still plant and harvest their crops by hand.（這里的稻農仍然用手工方式種植和收割莊稼。）

“by the hand”則是“拉著手”的意思，例句：I took my sister by the hand.（我拉著姐姐的手。）

by sea VS. by the sea

“by sea”指的是“海運”，例句：Most exports went by sea.（大部分出口貨物走海運。）

“by the sea”則指的是“在海邊”，例句：The country is encircled by the sea.（這個國家四面環(huán)海。）

in person VS. in the person

“in person”表示“親自，本人”，例句：You can vote either in person or by proxy.（你可以親自投票或請人代理。）

“in the person”表示“代表某人”，例句：Help arrived in the person of his mother.（來幫忙的是他的母親。）

at table VS. at the table

“at table”表示“吃飯，進餐”，例句：He seldom talks at table. （他吃飯時很少說話。）

“at the table”則表示“在桌邊”，例句：We sat at the table，talking. （我們坐在桌邊談論。）

in charge of VS.in the charge of

“in charge of”的主語是人，意思是“主管;看管”，例句：Teacher Wang was in charge of our class. （王老師負責我們班級。）

“in the charge of”的主語是物，意思是“由某人負責”，例句：Our class was in the charge of teacher Wang.（我們班級由王老師負責管理。）

out of question VS. out of the question

“out of question”表示“毫無疑問”，例句：The victory is out of question. （勝利是毫無疑問的。）

“out of the question”則表示“不可能的，辦不到的”，例句：His coming is out of the question . （他不可能來。）

last week VS. the last week

“ last week”的意思是“現(xiàn)在講話時之前的那個星期”，例句：I had a cold last week. （我上星期感冒了。）

“the last week”則表達的是“到今天為止的一個星期”，例句：I has had a cold for the last week. （我感冒了一個星期了。）

in case of VS. in the case of

“in case of” 意思是“假使，如果，萬一”，例句：In case of fire，ring the alarm. （如有火災，按火警鈴。）

“in the case of”則表示“就……來說”，例句：In the case of a physical change ，no new substance is formed.（就物理變化來說，沒有新的物質產生。）

由以上的例子我們可以看出，英語中帶不帶定冠詞“the”，意思可能大不同哦。
