學科核心素養(yǎng)是目前教育工作的中心任務和終極目標。學科核心素養(yǎng)既包括學生的基本知識和技能,也包含學生的情感、態(tài)度、價值觀和學習能力。因此,培養(yǎng)學生的學科核心素養(yǎng)離不開教師堅持不懈的學習、探索、思考和總結(jié),更離不開教學操作的實踐支持。以高中英語教材人教版Module 5 Unit 1 Great Scientists這一單元中閱讀John Snow Defeats“King Cholera”為例,說明在教學中如何提升學生的聽說讀寫各個方面的語言能力;培養(yǎng)學生思維品質(zhì);激發(fā)學生文化品格;同時提升學生學習能力。對于本單元的閱讀教學,我的課堂教學設計如下:
Step 1 Warming up by asking and discussing some questions.
Questions:
1.Have you ever caught a serious flu?
2.How did you feel then?
3.What do you think of and what do you decide to do in the future?
4.Have you ever heard SARS and do you feel scared when you hear it?
可以先讓學生分組討論他們是否曾經(jīng)感染過嚴重的感冒或者其他傳染???談談他們身體的感受和心里的感受。通過討論來提升學生的語言能力,了解他們面臨傳染病和對待傳染病的態(tài)度和情感。同時啟發(fā)他們通過學習調(diào)查和實踐來解決問題的思維品質(zhì),激發(fā)學生立志成為一名卓越的科學家或者醫(yī)生的愿望,以便將來更好地造福人類,造福社會。
Step 2 Fast-reading
經(jīng)過激烈而充分的討論,快速閱讀文章并且回答一些具體的問題,讓學生明白英國醫(yī)生John Snow在面對霍亂和他人的冷嘲熱諷時是迎難而上還是望而卻步,明白John Snow 最終如何解決了這一難題并最終戰(zhàn)勝了這一災難。通過對上述問題的解答和討論,要深刻地理解和明白不管在生活中還是人際交往中,又或是學習過程中,一旦遇到困難或者問題,我們一定要勇于面對,勇于探索和調(diào)查,勇于研究和實踐,從而戰(zhàn)勝一切困難和麻煩,成為一名真正的勇士。
Step 3 Careful reading.
Now the students are asked to read the text the sec?ond time.They have to look for and underline the expres?sions within the passage as well as the topic sentence in each paragraph.
Answers:
Topic sentence of the text: it tells about John Snow and his fight against“King Cholera”.
Topic sentence of the 1st paragraph:John Snow was a well-known doctor in London.
Topic sentence of the 2nd paragraph:He got interest?ed in two theories explaining how cholera killed people.
Topic sentence of the 3rd paragraph: He believed in the second theory but needed to prove he was correct.
Topic sentence of the 4th paragraph: He looked into the source of the water.
Topic sentence of the 5th paragraph: John Snow had shown that cholera was spread by germs.
Topic sentence of the 6th paragraph: Finally“King cholera”was defeated.
這一步驟的主要目的在于讓學生在初步了解John Snow 勇于面對困難和挑戰(zhàn),勇于探索的科學精神。通過詳細的閱讀和品味,讓學生深刻體會到科學研究需要有勇于探索的精神,實事求是的思維品質(zhì),詳細周密的研究過程,勇敢無畏的文化品格和探索推理的學習方法和學習能力。具備這些素養(yǎng),我們才能更好地造福人類,為社會做出我們應有的貢獻。
總之,高中英語教材內(nèi)容包羅萬象,題材靈活多變。但是形式和內(nèi)容的變化始終圍繞著一個永恒不變的主線和命脈,那就是英語學科的核心素養(yǎng)。我們要以不變應萬變,讓英語學科核心素養(yǎng)指引我們的教學,認真學習,積極探索,及時總結(jié),廣泛交流,把教學轉(zhuǎn)變成教育,把教會轉(zhuǎn)變成會教,把學會轉(zhuǎn)變成會學,讓學生終身受益。
