翻開學(xué)生的英語作業(yè)本,看到的多是簡(jiǎn)單的對(duì)、錯(cuò)符號(hào)或分?jǐn)?shù)或等級(jí),幾乎沒有評(píng)語,至多是千篇一律的 All right,OK或Good。許多英語教師改進(jìn)教學(xué),把大量的時(shí)間用于備課、課堂教學(xué)、作業(yè)的布置與批改、測(cè)驗(yàn)考試等,卻想不到花點(diǎn)時(shí)間用在學(xué)生的作業(yè)評(píng)語上。隨著教學(xué)理念的更新,英語作業(yè)的批改不應(yīng)該再是簡(jiǎn)單的等級(jí)和對(duì)或錯(cuò)了,對(duì)學(xué)生的作業(yè)應(yīng)當(dāng)進(jìn)行科學(xué)的評(píng)價(jià)。作業(yè)評(píng)語是英語教學(xué)中的一個(gè)重要環(huán)節(jié),有其自身的特點(diǎn)和功能。我認(rèn)為,作業(yè)評(píng)語的重要性會(huì)隨著人們對(duì)“素質(zhì)教育”的重視而逐漸被認(rèn)識(shí)。
一、作業(yè)評(píng)語的針對(duì)性
長(zhǎng)期以來由于受“應(yīng)試教育”的影響,許多教師熱衷于給學(xué)生作業(yè)打分?jǐn)?shù)或劃等級(jí)。實(shí)踐證明,對(duì)某些學(xué)生,這樣做不僅不能起到鼓勵(lì)或鞭策的作用,相反還會(huì)抑制甚至打擊學(xué)生的積極性,因?yàn)榉謹(jǐn)?shù)和等級(jí)的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)往往是片面的和機(jī)械的,容易抹殺學(xué)生的個(gè)性,不能準(zhǔn)確地衡量學(xué)生的真實(shí)成績(jī),達(dá)不到因材施教的目的。而且,一般作業(yè)也不都適合評(píng)分。只有評(píng)語才能給學(xué)生以恰如其分的評(píng)價(jià),使他們真正看到自己已取得的成績(jī),存在的缺點(diǎn)和努力的方向。
1.對(duì)差生的作業(yè)要批評(píng),但更要多鼓勵(lì)。例如:you've made so many mistakes but do better next time./I think you can do better if you work a little harder./ ?Be a careful girl and you'll make greater progress.一份差生的作業(yè)中可能有各種各樣的語法錯(cuò)誤,但是主要內(nèi)容也許很好或書法很不錯(cuò),如被全部地劃叉或判為零分,這就如同倒洗澡水把孩子也一起倒掉了一樣。而評(píng)語則可以起到去粗取精之功用。例如:I find you're good at expressing yourself.Avoid making too many mistakes in grammar./ ?You meant well,but try to make your sentences correct./ You've made so many mistakes here.Try to correct them.I like your hand-writing very much.Keep on.
2.對(duì)優(yōu)等生的作業(yè)表?yè)P(yáng)中要有指正。教師可通過評(píng)語向他們提出更高的要求,如增強(qiáng)創(chuàng)造力等??梢哉f:It's good to be correct. It's also important to be creative/ ?Excellent!You haven't made any mistakes,but try to make your handwriting nicer.
3.對(duì)中等生的作業(yè)應(yīng)該慎重評(píng)價(jià)。他們往往是大錯(cuò)不犯,小錯(cuò)不斷。在他們的評(píng)語中要多點(diǎn)督促,因?yàn)檫@一類學(xué)生往往就缺少那么一點(diǎn)“推動(dòng)力”,如推一推就上去了,松一松便下來了。例如:You'd better be more careful!Pay more attention to verbs and their uses!/Work harder and then you'll make much progress!
現(xiàn)在的中學(xué)生大多為獨(dú)生子女,過多的要求甚至批評(píng)難以奏效,“愉快教育”才能適應(yīng)現(xiàn)代化教育發(fā)展的需要。對(duì)于那些缺乏良好學(xué)習(xí)習(xí)慣,或?qū)W習(xí)成績(jī)有下降趨勢(shì)的學(xué)生,要經(jīng)常在作業(yè)評(píng)語中委婉地指出他們的缺點(diǎn)和不足,避免傷害他們的學(xué)習(xí)自尊心,注意藝術(shù)性和啟發(fā)性,并表達(dá)對(duì)他們的希望。如:“wish you would work harder?!薄癏ow I wish you would be more careful!”“Would you please do your work better?”“I am afraid you have made so many mistakes in your work?!敝挥羞@些希望是真誠(chéng)的、適時(shí)的和有內(nèi)容的,學(xué)生就會(huì)從中理解老師對(duì)他們的信任、關(guān)心和愛心,使他們真切地感受到教師對(duì)他們的尊重,從而縮短了師生間的距離,增強(qiáng)了他們的自信心,激發(fā)了他們的學(xué)習(xí)興趣,提高了他們的學(xué)習(xí)動(dòng)力。
二、作業(yè)評(píng)語的啟迪性
評(píng)語是教師同學(xué)生促膝談心,說悄悄話,表達(dá)的是特別的關(guān)注和愛護(hù),猶如一封短箋,或贊揚(yáng)或勸誡,學(xué)生們都能心領(lǐng)神會(huì)。作業(yè)評(píng)語可以溝通師生思想感情,是教師職業(yè)道德,即“師德”水平高低的表現(xiàn)。
教師針對(duì)成績(jī)不同的學(xué)生及其作業(yè),在不同場(chǎng)合所作的評(píng)語可激發(fā)學(xué)生們的斗志,讓優(yōu)等生更上一層樓,使中等生改正缺點(diǎn)、發(fā)揚(yáng)成績(jī)。
某次大考之前,在好、中、差學(xué)生的作業(yè)上可以給予不同的評(píng)語,以鼓舞斗志。例如:I wish you great success in the coming examinations.Go over your lessons again and pay more attention to the verbs we've learned this term.Avoid making silly mistakes in your pa- per.Make up the homework you've missed.Come to me if you find anything you can't understand.
如某個(gè)學(xué)生上次考試不及格,可用下述話語激勵(lì)其爭(zhēng)取進(jìn)步:
I'm sorry to know you've failed in the last examination.I hope you won't be too sad.Your classmates and I all want to help you.Remember,failure is the mother of success.I think you can do better next time.
如一個(gè)學(xué)生因病假缺課,作業(yè)做得不好,教師要說些安慰的話:
You've made some mistakes in your work.I think it very natural.Don't lose heart.We're all ready to help you catch up.
