一、compare...with...& compare...to...

※compare...with...意為“把……和……作比較”，常指把相似的人或事物進(jìn)行比較。如：

Paul hates his parents comparing him with other children.

保羅討厭他父母把他和別的孩子作比較。

※compare...to...意為“把……比作……”，指把性質(zhì)或種類不同的事物進(jìn)行比較，有比喻意味。如：

Some poets compared sleep to death. 一些詩人把睡眠比作死亡。

【練習(xí)】用compare...with...或compare...to...的適當(dāng)形式填空。

1. There were some white clouds in the sky， and Lily__________them__________cotton.

二、either & neither

※either意為“（兩者中的）一個(gè)”;neither意為“（兩者）都不”。如：

There is a hamburger and a sandwich here; you can have either.

這里有一個(gè)漢堡和一個(gè)三明治，你可以任選一個(gè)。

Neither question is easy. 兩個(gè)問題都不簡(jiǎn)單。

※either和neither均可和of連用，either of意為“兩者中的一個(gè)”;neither of意為“兩者都不”。如：

Either of them went to the old people’s home. 他倆中的一個(gè)去了養(yǎng)老院。

Neither of them wanted to visit the Great Wall. 他倆都不想?yún)⒂^長(zhǎng)城。

※用作連詞時(shí)，either可和or連用，即either...or...意為“或者……或者……;不是……就是……”，表示兩者之一，連接并列主語時(shí)，謂語動(dòng)詞遵循“就近原則”;neither可和nor連用，即neither ... nor ...意為“既不……也不……”，用于連接兩個(gè)并列主語，其含義是否定的，這種情況下謂語動(dòng)詞遵循“就近原則”。如：

Either I or Kate is going to the meeting on protecting the environment.

不是我就是凱特去參加那個(gè)關(guān)于保護(hù)環(huán)境的會(huì)議。

Neither John nor Tom can play the piano. 約翰和湯姆都不會(huì)彈鋼琴。

※either用在否定句的句末時(shí)，表示“也”的意思。如：

My brother can’t cook， and I can’t， either. 我哥哥不會(huì)做飯，我也不會(huì)。

三、among & between

※among意為“在（其）中”，一般用來表示三者或三者以上;among還可表示“……之一”，相當(dāng)于one of。如：

Paul is the tallest among the five boys. 保羅是那5個(gè)男孩中最高的。

The nurse was among the volunteers to go to Wuhan. 那名護(hù)士是去武漢的志愿者之一。

※between一般指兩者之間，其賓語往往是表示兩者的名詞或代詞，或者是由and連接的兩個(gè)人或物。如：

The new restaurant is between a café and a theater.

那家新餐廳在一家咖啡館和一家電影院中間。

There must be some misunderstanding between us. 我們之間一定有誤會(huì)。
